LDT 843. A true game-changer in my classes for Learning Design Technology……

Learning the ethics and morals when it comes to Learning Design Technology

I personal have NEVER heard of Deontology or Deontological Ethics but I am researching what it is exactly.  So far I see that deontology is a normative theory in which choices are morall required, forbidden, or permitted.  Deontology and its foil Consequentialism.

Consequentialism is a class of normative, teleological ethical theories.

  • It holds that the consequences of one’s conduct are the ultimate basis for judging its rightness or wrongness.

From a consequentialist standpoint, a morally right act (or omission) is one that will produce a good outcome

The question is “Is anything private in today’s digital age?”  As stated in the article, medical records, financial records, email, browser history, and other data can be easily purchased.  Our lesson this week talked about Neo and the Matrix, but if you noticed, he really is a hacker that sold confidential information to his partygoer friends!

In the movie, he is technically the good guy, but in my opinion, he really isn’t.  He would not have been monitored by the “system” and been forced out of the Matrix into the “Real World”.
